More UFBH Hounds Need Help

The bassets listed on the Available Bassets pages are merely the ones ready to be adopted. UFBH has other bassets in our care who may not be ready for adoption. Other rescues are in the twilight of their lives and will remain with us until the end.

  • Cowboy (0000000274)

    3 years and 6 months.

Cowboy is a fun loving guy who would be happiest in a home with another dog for him to play with. He l-o-v-e-s to play!! Cowboy is very good on a leash and enjoys short walks. He is a bit "mouthy" and might not be good with small children. Cowboy's favorite space to be in is yours. Watching him "grow up" is sure to delight everyone in the house.

(Cowboy has been in UFBH's care for 0 years and 6 months.)

  • Molly (0000000295)

    11 years and 4 months.

Molly is such a sweet girl. She is so happy to be in a warm house with friends, both human and furry. Although she is older she is in great shape and playful. She loves to nap by the fire, play with her stuffed toy and just spend time with you. She's well behaved, house/dog door trained and just pleasant to be around. She does sort through the trash but she is working on that. Molly was nervous the first few days in our home, pacing and not eating well but she has settled in nicely. She would be wonderful in any home, she's just looking for someone to love.

(Molly has been in UFBH's care for 0 years and 3 months.)

  • Hamilton (0000000292)

    3 years and 4 months.

Hamilton is doing very well in his foster home. He spends most of his day asleep on the couch. He's taking to house training really well. He now knows the command sit. We're working on stay (about halfway) and I'm trying to teach him lay down. He gets along great with my nephews (2,3, and 6 years old) and gets along well with my parent's dogs, as well as with my dog. He loves rawhides, treats, and has an affection for fetching and slobbering all over teddy bears. He does do some jumping up (very enthusiastic) and he is a bit food possessive with other dogs and we are working on that. He's doing a lot better already. Very quick learner. He's a very sweet and very handsome boy.

(Hamilton has been in UFBH's care for 0 years and 4 months.)

  • Emma (0000000290)

    8 years and 6 months.

Emma and Lucy are a bonded pair and must be adopted together.

(Emma has been in UFBH's care for 0 years and 4 months.)

  • Lucy (0000000291)

    7 years and 4 months.

Emma and Lucy are a bonded pair and must be adopted together.

(Lucy has been in UFBH's care for 0 years and 4 months.)

  • Gus (0000000293)

    7 years and 4 months.

Gus is a sweet and loving dog who will transition very nicely into your home. While somewhat a couch potato, he does get excited to go for walks. He doesn't pay much attention to cats and he adores children and he is very gentle with our 1 year old daughter. He loves treats, tummy rubs, bones, and long naps on soft dog beds. While he gets along well with other dogs, he prefers to rest quietly with his people instead of rough play. His front legs cause him some discomfort and going upstairs is tricky for him but it doesn't slow him down very much. Because of his legs, he doesn't jump up onto couches or beds which is a major plus! He is extremely responsive to gentle but firm correction and is house and crate trained. You really couldn't ask for a better, more easy going dog.

(Gus has been in UFBH's care for 0 years and 4 months.)

  • Dozer (0000000297)

    6 years and 9 months.

Dozer is one of the nicest dogs that his foster mom has ever known. Other than wanting to be a 'lap dog' he has no bad habits. Dozer is especially gentle with the cats. Her little feisty female cat will rub and sniff Dozer then smack him on the nose. Dozer just looks surprised but never responds. He loves to run with the other dogs and instantly became a welcome member of the family. His foster family don't have small children but they really think that he would be wonderful with them.

(Dozer has been in UFBH's care for 0 years and 3 months.)

  • Wally (0000000309)

    8 years and 2 months.

Wally's eyes say it all. A total little "gentleman", his foster Mom tells us he is a delight to have around. He'll need a home without stairs (maybe one or two would be ok) and would prefer to be in a home where at least one of his family members would be at home more often than not. This charming basset-boy loves to be loved. Wally is very well mannered and ready for a forever family of his very own.

(Wally has been in UFBH's care for 8 weeks.)

  • Anke (0000000298)

    8 years and 3 months.

A little princess through and through, Anke would like nothing better than to have 100% of her person(s) attention...for 100% of the time. She's a small basset, and could easily share your bed without taking up too much space. Anke is good with other dogs, but could be happy as an only dog. Her temporary foster mom said "She is the sweetest thing! I just love her to pieces. She is sweet, calm, and friendly to everyone and every dog. She isn't shy at all, but isn't aggressive either. She does great on our walks every day, and when we're home she's very calm and content. She's a perfect little girl. It's so hard to imagine someone giving her up."

(Anke has been in UFBH's care for 14 weeks.)

  • Bowzer (0000000301)

    1 years and 7 months.

(Bowzer has been in UFBH's care for 12 weeks.)
