  • Asha (000000167)

    3 years and 9 months.

Hello, my name is Asha and I am probably the most wonderful Basset you will ever know. I am sweet natured, loving, goofy and laid back all rolled into one. I am housetrained, kennel-trained, and I even scratch the door to let you know when I would like to go outside. I tend to hold onto my things a bit protectively at first, but once I feel settled in and know there are other good things in store for me, I'm very good about sharing. I love playing with my foster family's dogs and I even get along well with their silly cat that likes to play with dog tails. I'm happiest when I'm just hanging out with the people I love. I can be a fast learner when I want, but like a typical Basset, will do my own thing if what you want just doesn't sound very interesting to me. So, what does make it interesting? I have to admit I will do just about anything for a treat! To be truthful, I'm still working on taking treats more gently—I just get so excited!

I love to please my people; it really gets my tail wagging. I love my foster mom but I'm my foster dad's shadow when he's home! I would follow him everywhere (and I mean everywhere!) he goes if he would let me. Don't get me wrong, I think girls are cool but I just really attach to the guys. So, if you are looking for an awesome Basset with an incredible voice that will be fun, playful, laid back, and loyal—your search is over. I'm your dog!

(Asha has been in UFBH's care for 15 weeks.)

  • Paco (000000168)

    1 years and 3 months.

Hi, my name is Paco—I'm a young, sweet little boy that loves a good belly rub and chew toy! I enjoy a good meal, I love to play, and I'm learning how to behave on a leash. I'm working on kennel training as well as some basic commands: sit, stay, off and lie down. I'm also housetrained—but you have to watch for my signs or I may have an accident, as my foster home doesn't have a doggie door. But, once you open the door and let me know what to do, I'm all over it! I love to cuddle up with someone and give kisses. I really love to lie under my foster mom's feet. I love children and other dogs, especially when they play with me! I'm eager to please and warm up to everyone quickly. What I'm really looking for is a permanent home to call my own. Let me melt your heart and win you over!

(Paco has been in UFBH's care for 13 weeks.)

  • Droopy (000000172)

    3 years and 2 months.

Hi! Don't let my name fool you—there's nothing "droopy" about me! I am a handsome boy who can meet all your doggy needs. I love to play with children and other dogs; "tug" and "keep away" are two of my favorite games. However, when playtime is over, I am delighted to lay on the floor right next to you and watch television. I work hard at keeping my foster home safe; I make sure to let my foster mom and dad know when new people come to the door. But, I always quiet down when I'm told everything is "cool." I like to go for rides in the car and I get very excited when it is time to go for a walk around the neighborhood. I sleep in my crate at night and am generally very good about using the doggy door to go outside. Bottom line—one look in my golden eyes and you'll know, I'm the dog for you!

(Droopy has been in UFBH's care for 8 weeks.)

  • Rosco (000000176)

    7 years and 0 months.

Rosco is a sweet loving boy with some serious leg issues. He loves to play and can race around the yard, but only for a short time—and more than a couple of stairs are a real challenge for him. He actually plays very well with other dogs but he doesn't much care for cats; he's never tried to attack them or even chase them. He's good at jumping up on furniture, but has a hard time jumping down so we are teaching him to avoid getting on the furniture entirely. Rosco definitely needs a home with very few or no stairs, only short walks, and lots of love.

(Rosco has been in UFBH's care for 3 weeks.)

More UFBH Hounds Need Help

The bassets listed on the Available Bassets pages are merely the ones ready to be adopted. UFBH actually has other basset hounds who need your help as well. Some still need foster homes; others are in the twilight of their lives and will remain with us until the end.
