Greetings!
Pardon the pun, but it's been a whirlwind of a
hurricane season! Both Hurricane Katrina and Rita
have had a huge financial impact on UFBH and many
other rescue groups. While we encourage everyone
to give what they can to disaster relief, UFBH is also
worried that folks have forgotten the dogs in our own
backyard...
So, UFBH needs your help. It will only take a few
minutes of your time. In an effort to find more foster
homes, UFBH has put together a flyer. We would
love it if you could print and hang our flyer at your
vet's office or anywhere else pet-devoted people
gather. Pet supply stores, local dog parks, any of
them would be wonderful!

Other news...UFBH now has an official rescue
'advertisement' on the internet comic strip,
Bassetville's website.

501(c)(3) Tax-Exemption
Well, we've been promising it for years, but, yes, it's
finally true! We are now a federally recognized 501
(c)(3) tax-exempt public charity. Our status is
retroactive to August 15, 2003. If you decide to
make a donation (which is desperately needed right
now), you will be provided with the appropriate
receipts for tax purposes.

Here in Utah we do not often have huge natural
disasters of catastrophic proportions of a hurricane.
But, in light of the tragedies that we've all
witnessed in New Orleans, maybe it's time we all
gave a little thought to disaster preparedness.
Are you prepared? Take the short quiz provided by
the Humane Society to find out.

LucyLucy was adopted by a family who
had recently lost their pet companion. The father in
the family spends a great deal of time at home so it
was very important that Lucy get along well with
him. So, the day Lucy came into their lives she
went right to the dad and rolled over for a belly rub!
We think it was love at first sight!
Daisy
Daisy was adopted by a family
down in Provo. Lucky for Daisy, her new house is
literally just around the corner from her foster
stomping grounds! After an initial bump or two in
housetraining, Daisy is doing very well and is doted
upon by her new family.

If you look very closely at this old photo of Polly, you
can see the chain and the post to which she was
tied for most of her life prior to coming to UFBH.
Polly came to us because the surrendering family
recognized that they were neglecting her. Little did
they know just how much! Polly came to us with
a "raging" (quote from our vet) urinary tract
infection. It was so severe that it took several
rounds of antibiotics to clear it up. We are guessing
the surrendering family never noticed the UTI
because Polly was always outside by herself. She's
now healthy and happy and in need of a forever
home. Spread the word...Polly wants a home,
instead of a cracker!
