Greetings!
Happy Howlidays! I hope everyone had a wonderful leisurely
holiday with family and friends.
For myself, I was able to continue improving our website. We now
have an online
adoption application, our Basset
Gallery has been updated, and we have new items in our MiniMart!
In addition, I'm excited to let you know of some changes in our
Board of Directors. Jill Larsen and Carol Mundinger (two dedicated
foster parents) have joined us as Foster Coordinator and Secretary,
respectively. We are very pleased to have them!
Hope your holidays were great and have a very happy and
healthy New Year!
Jennifer

UFBH is now a member of Igive.com.
All that is required is that you sign up for an account with
Igive and shop using the links on their site. Their "mall" has
tons of stores and many of them are mainstream. Once you have
made a purchase, that store gives you something like a rebate.
That rebate amount is kept in your Igive account under your
name. Once all UFBH's donors have collected $25 all together
in rebates, checks are mailed to the chosen charity on a
quartly basis. Because the rebate money is held in an account
under your name, you get to claim it on your taxes. There are
reports you can print out online with all your information.
For those who were wondering how successful UFBH's first
Santa Paws event turned out...we netted $650! It will
help make a small dent in our vet bills! Every little penny
counts. There has even been discussion about a photo
event with the Easter Bunny...
In addition to our Santa Paws success, UFBH did very
well as volunteer gift-wrappers at Barnes & Noble
in Sandy. Several volunteers 'manned' the table on Christmas
Eve and raised $136 in 2.5 hours. We've already spoken to
Barnes & Noble about volunteering next year. The whole
experience was very fun and rewarding! Plus, Barnes &
Noble let us bring a
basset! |

It's been
a slow couple of months...which is sort of good because we do
not do "puppies for Christmas gifts."
Bruno
After rigorous Housetraining 101, Bruno, has finally found
a place to call his own. At his prior home, he was never
allowed indoors, so it was quite a learning curve for him.
But, as we all know, a little time and love can work wonders!
Duke
Duke's new family took on a special challenge upon adopting
him. Duke is deaf. Training a deaf dog has been an "ear
opening" experience for his family. Duke now has friend in his
new basset brother, Marley. Duke likes to be in charge, so
it's good that Marley is as laid back as they come!

Beauregard is like one of those grumpy old men who are
endearing once you get to know them. He's a sweetheart but
doesn't much enjoy the rowdiness of his younger housemates. At
13 or so years old, who could blame him!
On the other hand, you've never seen a basset so excited to
go on a little walk. The site of his leash sends him over the
edge with excitement!
Beau came to UFBH with his companion, Sampson, who is now
at the Rainbow Bridge. |
